Coloured lab grown diamonds are real diamonds, grown from carbon in a laboratory rather than mined from the ground. They share the same hardness, brilliance and chemical make-up as natural diamonds. How to choose a coloured lab grown diamond
Colour intensity
With coloured diamonds, colour matters most. Grading reports describe it by hue and strength, from Fancy Light through Fancy and Fancy Intense to Fancy Vivid and Fancy Deep. The stronger the colour, the more the diamond is usually worth.
Shape

Carat and clarity
Colour shows more strongly in larger stones, so a little extra carat weight can make a real difference. Clarity matters less than with white diamonds, as strong colour helps hide small inclusions, so VS or SI clarity usually gives the best value.
