Buying from us with confidence

Is Comparethediamond.com a trustworthy jeweller?

Yes. Comparethediamond.com is run by 247 Diamonds Ltd, a family jeweller trading since 1969 and online since 2002. We are members of the National Association of Jewellers, ISO 9001 certified, cast in 100% recycled bullion and independently reviewed on Trustpilot. Those are checks you can make yourself, rather than promises you have to take on trust.

Are you a real jeweller or just a website?

A real jeweller. We design and make engagement rings, wedding rings, eternity rings and diamond jewellery to order in our own workshop in Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire. You can speak to the people making your ring by phone, WhatsApp, email or video call. More on who we are and our story.

Who owns Comparethediamond.com?

The site is owned by 247 Diamonds Ltd (company number 06589282), Unit 3 Bourton Link, Bourton Industrial Park, Bourton-on-the-Water, Gloucestershire, GL54 2HQ. The business is run by father and son Clive and Luke Billing, and appeared on BBC Dragons' Den in 2008.

What does ISO 9001 and NAJ membership mean for me?

ISO 9001 is an international standard for quality management: an outside auditor checks how we handle, make and inspect every order. Membership of the National Association of Jewellers means we follow the UK jewellery trade's code of practice, so you have a recognised body behind your purchase.

Can I read independent reviews?

Yes. Customers review us on Trustpilot, where reviews are collected and checked by Trustpilot, not by us. Our TrustScore is shown live on our product pages.

Diamonds and certificates

Do your diamonds come with a certificate?

Our loose natural and lab-grown diamonds are listed with an independent grading report, mostly from GIA or IGI, that records the shape, carat, colour, clarity and cut. You can check the report number on the laboratory's own website before you buy. The small diamonds set in bands and eternity rings are too small to be certificated one by one; we buy them to our own quality standard. Browse certified diamonds.

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. A lab-grown diamond is made of the same carbon crystal as a natural diamond, with the same hardness and sparkle; only its origin is different. It is graded in the same way and usually costs much less than a natural diamond of the same size. Compare lab-grown diamonds and natural diamonds.

Are your diamonds conflict-free?

Yes. Our natural diamonds are conflict-free, and lab-grown diamonds come from a laboratory rather than a mine.

Is your gold and platinum hallmarked?

Yes. Every ring is hallmarked by a UK assay office to prove its precious metal content: 950 for platinum, 750 for 18ct gold and 375 for 9ct gold. UK law requires a hallmark on gold over 1 gram and platinum over 0.5 grams, so a missing hallmark is a warning sign when buying anywhere.

Ordering, making and paying

How long will my ring take?

Rings and jewellery are made to order in our workshop and take 3 to 4 weeks. Loose diamonds are delivered in 7 to 10 days. The expected delivery date is in your order confirmation, and we will call you if anything could affect it.

Is it safe to pay online?

Yes. Card payments go through Stripe, a payment provider used by millions of businesses, over an encrypted connection, so we never see or store your full card number. Paying by card also gives you your card issuer's protection.

Can I see the ring before I buy?

Most ring pages have a 3D viewer you can turn and zoom, alongside the photos. If you would like to talk it through, book a video appointment or send us a message on WhatsApp.

Can you make a design that is not on the website?

Yes. Send us a photo, sketch or idea through MyDesign or WhatsApp and we will quote for a bespoke design. You see the design and price before anything is made.

Delivery

Is delivery free and insured?

Yes. UK delivery is free by Royal Mail Special Delivery, fully insured, and we email the tracking number on the day your order ships. Delivery to the Republic of Ireland is free too. Other countries ship by FedEx. See delivery information.

Will anyone know what is in the parcel?

No. Parcels are plain and anonymous, with no mention of our name or of jewellery on the outside, which keeps them safe in transit and keeps a proposal a surprise.

Returns, resizing and aftercare

Can I return my order?

Yes. Returns are free within 30 days, and every order comes with a prepaid returns pack. Bespoke pieces made to your own design are different because they are made only for you, but we will always work with you to put things right. Read our return policy.

What if the ring is the wrong size?

The first resize is free. If you do not know the size, choose an average one and we will adjust it after the proposal, or order our free ring sizer first.

What if she loves the diamond but not the design?

We can move the diamond into the design she prefers, or exchange the diamond, with 100% credit against your original purchase. You pay or are refunded only the difference.

Do you buy back jewellery?

We do not buy back or part-exchange finished jewellery. Instead we can remodel your old jewellery into a new piece, reusing your diamonds and taking the value of the old gold off the cost.
