Jewellery remodelling UK

Jewellery Remodelling: Give Old Jewellery a New Life

Jewellery remodelling turns old, inherited or broken jewellery into a new piece you will wear, reusing the diamonds, gemstones and gold you already own.

Send us photos and tell us what you would like. We suggest a design, give you a fixed price before anything is made, and the new piece is usually ready 3 to 4 weeks after you approve the design. We have been a family jeweller since 1969.

Old gold rings, chains and loose gemstones ready to be remodelled into new jewellery

What jewellery can be remodelled?

Almost any fine jewellery with diamonds, gemstones, gold or platinum. These are the pieces people bring to us most often.

Engagement rings

A ring that feels dated, no longer fits your style, or has a diamond you want to wear in a new way.

Inherited jewellery

A grandmother's rings or a parent's brooch, remade into something you will wear every day.

Broken and odd pieces

Snapped chains, single earrings and damaged settings whose stones and metal are still worth using.

Redesign your engagement ring

Your diamond is the part worth keeping. We take it out of the old setting, check it for chips and wear, and reset it in the design you choose. Popular ways to remodel an engagement ring:

  • Reset the diamond in a new solitaire, halo or three stone setting
  • Add side stones or a diamond-set band
  • Change the metal, for example from yellow gold to platinum
  • Upgrade to a larger diamond and keep the original for a pendant or earrings
  • Turn the ring into a pendant when you have moved on to a new one

For ideas, browse our engagement ring designs or search natural and lab-grown diamonds for an upgrade.

Inherited jewellery and recycled gold

Inherited jewellery often comes as a collection of pieces that don't suit you on their own. Stones from several rings, often from different family members, can be brought together in one ring, pendant or bracelet, so they are worn together rather than kept in a drawer.

The gold or platinum in your old jewellery has real value. It can be refined and used again in the new piece, or taken in part exchange against its cost. Either way you pay less than you would for all-new materials, and nothing new needs to be dug out of the ground: your new piece is recycled jewellery in the truest sense.

How our jewellery remodelling service works

  1. Send us photos

Photograph your jewellery and add pictures of styles you like, on WhatsApp or through MyDesign.

  2. Design and fixed price

We look at which stones and metal can be reused, design the new piece around them and give you a fixed price.

  3. Post your jewellery

When you approve the design, we send you a secure postal pack for your jewellery.

  4. Stones checked, metal reused

Each stone is removed and checked. Your gold or platinum is refined for the new piece, or taken in part exchange.

  5. Made and delivered

Your new piece is made, set and finished, usually 3 to 4 weeks from design approval.

How much does jewellery remodelling cost?

The price depends on the design, how many stones are set and how they are set, and the finish. Reusing your own diamonds and precious metal is what usually makes remodelling cheaper than buying the same piece new, because you are not paying for those materials again.

You always get a fixed price with your design. There is nothing to pay and nothing is made until you approve both.

Jewellery remodelling FAQs

What is jewellery remodelling?

Jewellery remodelling, also called jewellery redesign or recommissioning, means making a new piece from jewellery you no longer wear. The diamonds and gemstones are taken out, checked and reset, and the gold or platinum can be refined and used again.

Is it cheaper to remodel jewellery than to buy new?

Usually, yes. When your own diamonds and precious metal go into the new piece, you are not paying for those materials again. The final cost depends on the design, the stone setting and the finish, and you get a fixed price before anything is made.

Can you reset the diamond from my old engagement ring?

Yes. The diamond is removed, checked for chips and wear, and set in a new engagement ring, a halo, a three stone ring or a pendant. If a stone is not suitable for the design you want, we will tell you and suggest options.

Can I upgrade to a bigger diamond?

Yes. Choose a new natural or lab-grown diamond from our diamond search for the new ring, and keep your original stone for another piece such as a pendant or earrings.

What happens to my old gold and platinum?

It can be refined and used in the new piece, or taken in part exchange against its cost. We will tell you which makes more sense for your design.

Will I see the design before it is made?

Yes. Nothing is made until you have approved the design and the fixed price.

How long does jewellery remodelling take?

Usually 3 to 4 weeks from when you approve the design, depending on the piece.

Do I need to visit you?

No. Send photos on WhatsApp or through MyDesign, agree the design and price, and we send you a secure postal pack for your jewellery when you are ready to go ahead.
